Day 31: A vivid memory
I can't believe this is the last day of blog every day in May! I have really enjoyed each and every topic to post on. I am not going to lie, it has also been nice knowing what I would post about each day and not staring at a blank screen or waiting until noon or later to post because I didn't know what to say! That happens some days, OK!
It is interesting what memories are vivid to us. I believe more often than not they are our self-defining moments. Most of my memories of my childhood are not as vivid as I would like for them to be! Especially the time spent with my grandparents.
One of my most vivid memories is my last day in Pennsylvania when I was 10. It was the summer between 5th and 6th grade. My dad had accepted a job transfer with his company that would take us to Missouri. I remember packing up the few items that we had after the movers had left with all of our stuff on one truck. It is amazing that they can fit an entire house with 2 adults and 2 kids on one truck, isn't it?
We moved in my dad's truck, and our dalmatian Lucky was in the back ready to go. This would be the longest road trip that he would take. We were pulling out of my grandmother's drive way and I remember looking out the window with tears rolling down my cheeks. I was holding on to my care bear that I had since I was 2. A song by Whitesnake was playing in the background, "Here I Go Again." This song would later become our road trip theme song. It always seemed to play when we were traveling.
No, I don't know where I'm going,
But, I sure know where I've been
Hanging on the promises
In songs of yesterday
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
Here I go again
Here I go again
Tho' I keep searching for an answer,
I never seem to find what I'm looking for
Oh Lord, I pray
You give me strength to carry on,
'Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
An' here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
An' I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
I'm just another heart in need of rescue,
Waiting on love's sweet charity
An' I'm gonna hold on
For the rest of my days,
'Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
An' here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
An' I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
But, here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go
'Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams
An' here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
An' I've made up my mind,
I ain't wasting no more time
An' here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known,
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone

That's a great road trip song, I will be singing it for the rest of the day! It will seem strange for the first few days not being part of the challenge anymore. I have enjoyed it too.
