Love Like Crazy

So, it's no secret that I love all kinds of music. If you saw my Spotify account, you would think I had multiple personalities! No one can get it right like some country folks though, I am going to be honest! Simple, heart felt lyrics at their best. I think one of my favorite songs based on lyrics is "Love Like Crazy" by Lee Brice.  If you do not know this song, you have to listen to it, or just read the lyrics.

They called them crazy when they started out
Said, "Seventeen's too young to know what loves about"
They've been together fifty eight years now
That's Crazy

He brought home sixty seven bucks a week
Bought a little two bedroom house on Maple Street
Where she blessed him with six more mouths to feed
Now that's crazy

Just ask him how he did it
He''ll say "Pull up a seat
it'll only take a minute
to tell you everything"

Be a best friend, tell the truth
Overuse I love you
Go to work, do your best
Don't out smart your common sense
Never let your praying knees get lazy
And love like crazy

They called him crazy when he quit his job
Said those home computers boy they'll never take off
Well he sold his one man shop to Microsoft
And they paid like crazy

Just ask him how he made it
He'll say faith and sweat
And the heart of a faithful woman
Who never let him forget

Be a best friend, tell the truth
Overuse I love you
Go to work, do your best
Don't out smart your common sense
Never let your praying knees get lazy
And love like crazy

Always treat your woman like a lady
Never get too old to call her baby
Never let your praying knees get lazy
And love like crazy

They called him crazy when they started out
They've been together fifty eight years now
Ain't that crazy

I typed this without looking it up, I know this song by heart. I know every word to this song, as I listen to it often. It reminds me of things that my grandparents would tell me when I was little. They always taught me to do what was right, even if I didn't like the consequences. Some of the words in this song are so simple, yet I think we forget them a lot.

You should always be a friend, even when someone isn't being one back.

Always tell the truth and be honest. If you lie, you start living those lies. It's too much to keep up with! You will loose who you are.

You should always express your love to those close to you. I never get off the phone with my mom, dad, sister, and husband without saying "I love you." I even tell some friends that I love them as well.

You should always do your best. Even when you are discouraged. When you give your all and work hard, you will eventually be rewarded in one way or another. You will know that you gave everything you had, and if it didn't work out...you did your best. You can't beat yourself up over your best.

Common sense is something that some people throw out the window. You can be the smartest book smart person on the planet, but if you ain't got common sense, you ain't got shit. (Sorry, I was thinking about some common sense smart country folks when I said that.)

Something I am guilty about is not praying regularly like I should. You should NEVER let your praying knees get lazy, and this is something I am going to work on.

I was at a funeral yesterday. Some of the children of the man that passed talked about how he always did the right thing, and worked very hard. They have a huge, successful business now...and truth and hard work were the foundation of that business that their father built on.

I think sometimes we need a reminder of those things. Perhaps living your life more simply, will turn you into something extraordinary. The most extraordinary people I know, are just your average people who live their lives by doing the right thing.

You should always be there for family, no matter what. Love people unconditionally.  Always help others that need it. Give when you can. Be quiet when you should. And be thankful every day for what you have.

  1. Great song! I also like "A Woman Like You".

I don't know if I would *always* be a friend when someone isn't being one back...I would definitely try...but there are some times when you can't let someone use you anymore (I know from experience).

  2. You are so right... country lyrics are my favorite. They truly have meaning behind them, well, most of them. This is a great post, Nadine! So sorry you had to attend a funeral yesterday. Those are always the hardest! And one thing is for sure, we may not have thought our parents and grandparents knew what they were talking about when we were younger, but boy as I continue to get older, the wiser they really are! Love you!! And I can't wait to see you Saturday!
