Life Lessons I wish I Would Have Known Sooner

Have you ever sat down and thought about the things that really matter. Real life lessons. Not stupid geometry or geology that you had to take in high school (Life lesson number one...any class that starts with geo is stupid and unnecessary in real life.)

I am going to be 30 this year, and am coming to terms with this. Although, in my mind I will be 29 forever. These are some of the things I have learned...

Bad things happen to good people. It's just a fact. We don't have to like it, we can't do anything about it.

People usually deserve a second chance...but don't dare give them a third!

Take lots of pictures, you will just be glad that you did. Even of silly, insignificant events like dinner with a friend. They are the ones you will cherish the most later in life.

Take ownership of the things you do wrong, don't make excuses. Your mistakes build your character.

First impressions can be very important, but they can also be very wrong.

Being serious is important, but being silly sometimes is even more important.

The things that you think are the biggest deal in high school and college are in fact, nothing at all!

Time heals all wounds.

Just smile, even when you are down. It will make you feel happier.

Everyone is going through something, be kind to others.

There will be a day when you just can not do everything. That is OK!

The only way to keep you mind straight and clean, is to avoid those that try to twist it.

Expect less from others, you will be a lot less disappointed.

Do not care what others think about you. For when you judge someone, that defines you...not them.

Those that are truly happy are thankful for what they have, not focusing on what they want.

Little acts of kindness are the most rewarding.

The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them.

If you wouldn't write it and sign your name to it, don't say it.

Always be yourself. ALWAYS.

There is always some good in the world, and that is what is worth fighting for.

Do not let anyone crush your dreams.

Friends can be for a season or a lifetime. Sometimes even the best of friends are only for a season.

Real heroes are every day people.

Your parents are always right, just listen to them.

Your family is very important and not something to take for granted.

Always be a best friend.

Do you have a tough decision to make? Always do the right thing. Always. And while we are at it, tell the truth! If you tell one lie, you have to tell another...and ain't no one got time to keep up with all that!

These next two lessons are things that I am working very hard on...

Everything you want is on the other side of fear.

If you don't step forward, you are always in the same place.

Here is something I have learned from my dogs...

Kick some grass over that shit, and move on.

I shall leave you with some pictures...
Mac was not amused by his bunny ears.

Gracie will let me dress her in the most ridiculous of outfits, but put something on her head and she will freak out. She just kept shaking and shaking, the ears slid all the way down her neck. She says, silly mommy tricks are for kids!

Mac was in my lap at the table last night while I was on my lap top. He then climbed up onto the table, and proceeded to look cute to divert my attention. Well played.
